PSIA 2015 – 2016 – St. Paul Students Wins FIRST Place!

Can you feel the excitement in the air? Do you see the children with huge grins on their faces? Do you see the excited teachers, parents, and friends of St. Paul?

St. Paul Lutheran in Thorndale won 1st place in Elementary and 1st place in Middle School, which gave us 1st place overall out of 12 schools at the PSIA competition Friday, February 26, 2016. What an amazing day! Each year I am impressed with the students of St. Paul, who step up and do a wonderful job of representing our school at the PSIA competition. PSIA stands for Private School Interscholastic Association. It is an academic competition between private, parochial, and home schools.

The students go and compete in different areas with some competing in more than one event. Many of our students are going on to compete at the State competition in Fort Worth at TCU (Texas Christian University) later this year. I am proud of all the students who participated and did their very best competing against other schools and home schools.

They brought home 78 ribbons total. We have 21 children competing in 29 entries for State, and 12 students who are alternates.

The students have been working hard since October getting ready for the competition. They are not the only ones. A huge THANKS goes out to all of the coaches for these events. We couldn’t do as well as we do without their dedication and extra time spent coaching and encouraging their students. They are Mrs. Eschberger, Mrs. Garcia, Mrs. Churchman, Mrs. Williamson, Mrs. Paulsen, Mrs. Owen, Mrs. Widner, Mr. King, Mrs. Melcher, Pastor Kalbas, Mrs. McCoy, Mrs. Brymer, Mrs. Meadors, Mrs. Reynosa, Mr. Moss, Mrs. Daniell, and Mrs. Fisher.

A huge Thanks also goes out to all those who helped with the competition on Friday. They come to PSIA and either grade, judge, assist in running a competition, or directing a contest. We are very thankful to have you all come and support us through the competition and lend us a helping hand. We couldn’t have done it without you!!

Thanks should also go out to Immanuel Giddings who has run this event successfully now for many years.

GOD BLESS EACH OF YOU – Ms. Kristi Fischer
