CHANGE in report card pick-up time

Dear St. Paul Families and Friends,
We have changed the date for report card pick-up. You may pick-up report cards (and standardized test results, awards, etc.) TOMORROW from 1-3 PM. Any left after 3 PM will be mailed home later this week. Please also pick-up any medications left in the front office at this time.
The change in pick-up date is due to the funeral service for Floyd Zuehlke, Sr., to be held here on Wednesday at 2 PM. Mr. Zuehlke was one of our oldest members of St. Paul -- baptized, confirmed, and married here. As a beloved member of our church, a great friend of both church and school ministries, and a prominent central Texas businessman, we expect a large turnout. By moving our pick-up date, we hope to avoid any conflict or distraction from his service. We offer our deepest condolences to the Zuehlke family, with praise and thanksgiving for a long life led in service to His Lord.

St. Paul, Thorndale Wins FIRST Place at PSIA!

Can you feel the excitement in the air? Do you see the children with huge grins on their faces? Do you see the excited teachers, parents, and friends of St. Paul?

We had an amazing day at our district meet! Each year I am impressed with the students of St. Paul, who step up and do a wonderful job of representing our school at the PSIA competition. (PSIA stands for Private School Interscholastic Association. It is an academic competition between private, parochial, and home schools.)

St. Paul Lutheran in Thorndale won 1st place in Elementary and 1st place in Middle School, which gave us 1st place overall out of 12 schools at the PSIA competition Friday, March 31st. We are back-to-back 1st Place Champions!

The students compete in different subject areas with some competing in more than one event. Many of our students are going on to compete at the State Competition in Fort Worth at TCU (Texas Christian University) in May. The students have been working hard since November getting ready for the competition, but they are not the only ones. A huge THANKS goes out to all of the coaches for these events. We couldn’t have done as well as we do without their dedication, extra time spent coaching, and encouragement for their students. The coaches are Ms. May, Mrs. Halpain, Mrs. Ford, Mrs. Reynosa, Mrs. McCoy, Mrs. Brymer, Mrs. Garcia, Mrs. Gonzales, Mr. and Mrs. Van West, Mrs. Churchman, Mr. King, Mr. Owen, Mrs. Melcher, Mrs. Kalbas, Mrs. Daniell, Mrs. Leatherwood, Mrs. Maines, Mrs. Williamson, and Mrs. Culp.

A huge thank you for all those who volunteered to help with the competition on Friday. They came to PSIA to grade, judge, assisted in directing a contest, or directed a contest. We are very thankful that you all came and supported us during the competition and lent us a helping hand. We couldn’t have done it without you!!

We would also like to thank Immanuel Lutheran School, Giddings who has hosted this event successfully for many years.

    Last Chance for Zip-Front Jackets/Pullover

Dear St. Paul Families and Friends,
Due to popular demand, we have arranged to place one more order for the embroidered, zip-front jackets/pullover with the new St. Paul logo. (This is the new logo with "SP" the cross, and "St. Paul" underneath -- perfect for both church and school.  These are great for upcoming field trips and field days, when we still may find a chilly morning to greet us. This will be the last Lion Gear order until sometime next school year, so if you missed the chance before the holidays, now's the time! See attached, or hard copies in the office. DEADLINE IS NEXT MONDAY, FEB 6!

    Back to School To-Do's

    Good Evening, St. Paul Families!

I promised updates to information and schedules as we make our way to the new school year. This will be short and sweet, but please take a few minutes to read, as there may be changes
to your schedules. And, welcome to some of our newest Lion families, who very recently enrolled and helped our school reach 126 students!

CONGRATULATIONS, and THANK YOU for enrolling your student in our new PRAXI portal!
Good news is that you are one step ahead, as we work to get the system up and running. Bad news is that we need all the other students to enroll ASAP in order to actually train our staff and kick things off.

Those families will receive a separate email with pretty-please-with-a-cherry-on-top-get-it-done request! If you have St. Paul family or friends, make sure they have enrolled!

Thank you for being patient as we baby step into PRAXI. It's worth it!

    • NOW - Classroom Orientations start next week! Parents/Guardians are asked to attend with their student. See website for dates, times, and other details. Don't forget the School Supply List is also available!
    • NEXT - Check out the schedule for "Tell the Teacher More" meetings. There were slight adjustments based on family requests, or in order to allow our teachers a break in the midst of jam-packed schedules. Most updated schedule is attached.
    • THEN - Time to confirm BAND and BUS students! Reply to this email if your student (Grade 5-8) is interested in the Band Program, and we'll send details. Likewise, reply to this email if your family is interested in the morning bus from Taylor, or the afternoon bus to Thorndale/Rockdale, and we'll get you booked.
    • FINALLY - Deadline for fees and tuition has been extended to AUGUST 15. Until we get PRAXI up and running, you can contact the office for your back-to-school statement, and make payments directly to the office.
We're back to an almost full-time schedule in the office, working to get everything in place for the start of school. Please call, email, text, Facebook message, swing by, etc. for any help at all. Looking forward to seeing you soon!

    Kinder's Table Talk 9-28

Hello Parents!  The following are just a few notes for the week.
Pictures:  We are winding down to the end of our first quarter in Kindergarten!  Our class has blown me away with how much they are able to learn in a short period of time.  I'm so proud of all of them.  Last week we had so much fun with our homecoming dress up days, leaf investigations, leaf rubbings, and number ordering, so here are a few pictures of our activities.
Clothing:  We are busy, busy, busy in Kindergarten, and sometimes just as messy :).  Please send an extra set of clothing to be kept in your child's backpack that is current season appropriate.  It is good to have this on hand in case of an accidental spill during snack, lunch, art, or a bathroom accident.
Shoes:  During dress up week we allowed students to change shoes during the day to accommodate our dress up outfits.  Now that we are back to our normal clothes and schedules, please make sure your child is wearing shoes that they can wear outside to recess and PE.  Thank you!
Illness:  We are still battling the stomach virus here at St. Paul.  Thank you for being watchful and keeping your little ones home when they show signs of stomach upset or nausea.  We are working diligently here, as well, to sanitize and keep the germs away!
